Dear HR community,

From November 20^th to December 5^th, we ushered in the global D&I event – Disability Awareness Weeks, with spotlighting Ipsen’s support of 5 athletes leading up to the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games (Global Diversity & Inclusion page). To mark the occasion, on December 4^th, Ipsen China successfully carried out an unique and meaningful dialogue with 2012 Paralympic Champion, Yanzhang WANG. Nearly 160 Ipsen members actively participated both online and offline. At last part of the Torch Relay, employee representatives received a torch badge from Yanzhang, and shared their personal reflection from his story, turning this moment into an unforgettable and exclusive ‘Ipsen moment’.

During the interview, Yanzhang WANG shared his own experience and explained in depth the importance of real purpose, real precision and real passion on the road to success, as well as the great power of ‘focus’ as a consistent attitude along with the whole time.

Focus · Strive for Real Purpose

From the very beginning of Yanzhang’s sports career, he was faced with a major goal choice: should he continue his studies or focus on sports? This will determine the course of his life. And after deeply thinking about it, Yanzhang chose the thing that was really matter to him – sports. After entering the sports business, Yanzhang further set his goal of ‘winning the championship and raising the national flag’. Since then, he has focused on this objective until he finally stepped on the podium.

This is how important it is to set and clarify objectives for moving forward. If we want to reach the final destination, first of all, we need to think carefully and identify the things that are really matter to us. Then, for the big objective that needs ‘jump to achieve’, we must continue to set clear small goals, truly believing and focusing on this, we will gradually approach our ‘destination’ through every challenge and breakthrough.

Focus · Execute with Real Precision

After Yanzhang set the precise objective, he set up a training plan for it, cooperated with the coach and the support team behind him to try a variety of training methods, accurately achieved his training goals, and performed at a complete level on the field, achieving the ultimate goal of ‘raising the national flag and playing the national anthem’.

After the goal is set, how to ensure that the goal to be achieved is a more focused work, which requires us to develop a complete strategy and tactics. Link back to our work, first of all, we need to maintain the absolute belief in achieving the goal, and the fighting spirit of tenacity that never giving up. At the same time, we will learn to work with our team to form a complete winning strategy from top to bottom, and then continue to execute with nimble, flexible and agile ways to ensure that we can truly reach our target customer. In such highly competitive environment, becoming an efficient and high performing team will be better able to achieve accurate execution.

Focus · Stay on Real Passion

After Yanzhang won the Olympic gold medal, the Olympic program he focused on was canceled. Under such a blow, Yanzhang did not choose to give up easily, but made an attempt to become a ‘slash youth’. Not only did he win another medal in his sub-major, but he also became a community worker and a member of the Olympic Organizing Committee.

The road to achieving our objectives will never be easy, and all of us will go through many unsmooth and uncontrollable moments, and we may all feel that it is difficult to move forward sometimes. But what we can control is our own mindset – learn to give ourselves confidence and believe in the power of keeping trying. When our mental strength is stable, we can better focus on solving problems, and when we focus on solving problems, things will often turn around again.

Through the speech of the Paralympic champion, we saw that there is a ‘secret model’ for success, which requires real purpose, real precision and real passion, and the starting key of this model is ‘focus’ — focus on thinking about what really matters, focus on working insistently and undefeated, and focus on solving the problems encountered on the way. With the deepening of the transformation road, Ipsen as a company focusing on specialty care, has formed a clear and definite strategy, Next, we need the focus power from every Ipsen members, we need to be full of enthusiasm and stand together, along with stronger passion and motivation, using more accurate tactics in place to ensure the achievement of our objectives goal, to achieve our mission and vision – ‘Put Ipsen at the Center of China, and put China at the center of Ipsen’.
