97%, that’s the figure!

Today marks my second year at Ipsen, a leading global biopharmaceutical company focused on innovation and Specialty Care and founded in 1929 by Dr Henri Beaufour.

Two years on, the reasons I joined Ipsen are still very clear in my mind: embarking on an amazing and transformative leadership journey, the company culture and its people, as well as the opportunity to make a real difference in a patient centric company which centers on delivering innovative therapeutic solutions to patients who need them.

On this special day, I could talk about the many achievements from the past two years:

– Ipsen’s amazing revenue growth (+38%) and increased operating margin (+55%)

– Our position among the top 15 oncology companies in the world

 – Our improved Glassdoor rating (from 2.7 to 3.8)

– The implementation of best-in-class leadership pathways with global partners such as London Business School and Korn Ferry, to name a few

– The improvement in gender balance of our Top 150 l, from 28 to 36%

-The enhanced performance management culture, where nearly 100% of the teams have set-up objectives and co-designed their development plans with their managers

– Being recognized in eight countries as a Great Place to Work, Best Place to Work or among the Top Employers (Russia, Algeria, Greece, Netherlands, Brazil, Mexico, Italy and Ireland)

But what makes me proud is a simple figure: 97%

This figure comes from our 2019 Employment Engagement Survey, where 97% of my 5,800 colleagues say they “feel responsible and accountable for their decisions. “

The vast majority (87% at least) are familiar with the company’s goals, are optimistic about the future of the company, their work makes them want to give the best every day, they appreciate the work environment, the effort on internal communications, the way their managers are treating them fairly and are embracing our Ethics and Compliance guidelines, and have been given the opportunity to discuss their development with their managers.

For me, this means a lot. It means that the One Ipsen Way of Being, introduced in 2018, is now our common and universal behavior and drives our ways of working:

  • We trust each other
  • We share and learn everyday
  • We own our outcome
  • We honor our word
  • We drive to win together

It means that our learning culture contributes to everyone growing and that every day is a learning experience. It means that recruiting the right people for the right roles from the right talent pipeline allows us to growth together and to deliver our best for patients and people!

Beyond the 97%, I would like to thank all of my colleagues at Ipsen – past, present and future – – for their daily commitment to doing things the right way, with accountability and passion. Together, we are making an impact.

Regis Mulot.
