Dear HR Community,

As you know, assignments play a key role in developing our employees and are therefore actively encouraged.

Currently, assignments are managed differently across countries and functions, potentially leading to inefficiencies, confusion for the managers and employees involved and inconsistencies in treatment. That’s why a policy has been established, in collaboration with Finance.

The Domestic Assignment Policy:

  • defines “Domestic Assignmentsand outlines the scope and guidelines of different types of assignments: “Domestic Assignment”, “Developme” and “International Assignments”,
  • offers guidance on how to plan and manage domestic assignments to all stakeholders including: the assignee themselves, the line and assignment’s managers, and the Finance and HR partners,
  • covers all relevant aspects of a domestic assignment such as advertising and selection, duration, assignment letter, financial considerations, management in iPeople, management of workload for the assignee and their colleagues, performance reviews, financial recognition, end of the assignment etc.,
  • clarifies roles and responsibilities at each step.

Considering the ongoing HR Campaigns, this Policy will be effective April 1st 2026. Of course, it can be applied immediately if you need a common guidance for new cases.

Note that the Policy will also be communicated to the Finance Community. Also, our HR reference documents Ipsen HR Process Flows document and HR Principles v4.0 will be updated accordingly.
